Description:

From Lewis & Clark Festival Website:

The Festival features:
Native Lodge Encampment: A Native Lodge encampment includes several tipis from different tribal traditions. Included are a Blackfeet Painted Tipi, Tule Mat Lodge, Quill Tipi, and a Buffalo Hide Tipi. Native presenters will be on hand to give presentations on their tipis and cultural traditions.

Building a Bull Boat: Long used as water transportation on rivers in the upper Great Plains by Native Americans, the men of the Corps also made and used bull boats on their return trip. The men of the Lewis and Clark Honor Guard will be making a bull boat in a live demonstration, from buffalo hide and willow branches. The boat will be water-ready and launched in the adjacent Missouri River on the last day of the Festival.

Council Lodge Programs: In the tradition of the Native Tribal Council, three tipis will be opened and set up as a staging area for programs. A number of presenters from the Lewis and Clark Honor Guard and Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center will give demonstrations and programs every hour on life in 1805, including navigation, fire starting, medicine, the weapons of the Corps, furs and animals, and many other programs.

Buffalo Kite Flying: Terry Lee will be flying several of her native-made buffalo theme kites on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Children and adults are invited to fly their own kites as well.

Live Music: Four musical groups will be featured at the Festival, with Rob Quist in a headline performance Friday evening. Other musical talent includes Peter and Molly Wilson and The Rivertown Rounders.

Children's Programs: The Festival will feature a Kid's trading post, where children can bring a trade good and hone their bartering skills with a seasoned trader.
